Why Install a Backflow Preventer

A backflow preventer is a one-way valve that prevents water, which may be stagnant, from sitting in the irrigation pipes underground, from coming back into the house and contaminating your drinking water. A backflow preventer is required on all lawn sprinkler systems by the board of health and the plumber’s code. For the safety of all of our customers, Drought Free Irrigation will not install a sprinkler system without a proper backflow preventer.

How Much Does An Irrigation System Cost

This is, without a doubt, the most frequently asked question. I wish there was a definite answer to give you. While the average irrigation system costs between $3000.00 and $4,000.00, you must keep in mind that, every yard is different. Some yards have lots of shade, some are full sun, some yards are full of ledge which means more time and labor digging and putting pipe in the ground. Every system should be designed for that specific area.

Drought Free Irrigation will test your water pressure and volume to determine how many sprinkler heads should be on each zone. We will then check your yard for walkways, planting beds, storage sheds, patios, decks, etc., to determine the best layout of your system. We will design your system, keeping in mind that shaded areas may not need the same amount of water as full sun areas, and, hilly areas need to be watered at a different rate than flat areas.

Drought Free Irrigation will give you a free, written estimate, that will inform you of how many heads, zone valves, and what size timer you will need to complete the job properly. Included in the estimate is the price of a licensed plumber to tie your sprinkler system into the household water.

Why Use a Licensed plumber

A licensed plumber is required by law to tie your sprinkler system into your household water. This is the water supply that you and your family are using every day for drinking, cooking and showering. You can’t afford to have that water supply contaminated. Drought Free Irrigation takes your safety seriously, and will not install a system on your property without the use of a licensed plumber.
